The "Audiovox D1210 DVD Player" comes with a massive 12.1 inch screen that makes it one of the largest on the market. This particular model (D1210) from Audiovox has been out on the market for about 3 years and has dropped in prices quite substantially when it first came out...you can now pick it up for about $300 from a number of stores.

Best things about this unit:

• screen size
• detachable speakers
• surround sound output
• connects to cable or antenna for TV viewing

Some of the downsides:

• few people have complained that the unit heats up quite a bit
• some have had issues with dead pixels

Overall if you need a big screen portable dvd player then the Audiovox D1210 is likely a pretty good match for what you're looking for.

The pl607 dvd player portable progressive scan is one of those, you get what you paid for items...my opinion only.

Numerous times on this blog I've mentioned the fact that, if you spend a few bucks you aren't going to get a lot. Every review I've gone through on the Mustek PL607 has either mentioned in some format, "it's barebones but what I could afford" or "it hasn't work all that well". Scares me off in a hurry when I read or hear comments like that.

So, what does barebones mean, well the portable player has minimal buttons on the unit...basically stop and play. So that means if you lose the remote for this 7" screen from Mustek (PL607), you really lose the ability to move around and funtion within a dvd.

Positives about the unit are the wide-screen (meaning you watch the movie in the theatre format, not adjusted for TV viewing) and the unit plays all types of file formats.

One other thing I should mention, the "Mustek PL607 dvd portable player" only has one headphone jack, so unless you get a spliter...makes it tough for more than one person to watch a movie quietly.
