Portable DVD Players - Mintek Recalls Batteries

Good day to you!

Just wanted to let you know my wife is doing fine...should have mentioned that in yesterday's post.

If you haven't heard Mintek has put out a recall on model number DVD-1710. There have been reports that when recharging the batteries...they may overheat, catch fire and could possibly burst.

I believe there have been 10 reported cases with problems with the batteries on these portable dvd players. Which isn't a lot of reports in terms of the number of units on the market...but you definitely wouldn't want to let anyone get hurt that may be around the Mintek dvd player battery...if it happen to burst. This is one of those things where, "It's much better to be safe, than sorry". I'd beat myself up for years if one of my kids happened to be around the battery and it caused them injury. Send those batteries back in if you have an Mintek.

You'll get a free replacement battery when you send your battery in. You can get more information here:

phone: Mintek Digital toll-free at (866) 709-9500
or by mail at: Mintek Digital Inc, 4915 E. Hunter Ave., Anaheim, CA 92807

You can also get more information at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. There press release went out in June, 2005.

I gotta run...need to get back to work and bring home the bacon for my four kids and beautiful wife.

Later....
